Greyson's First Day of School
Oh wow!! I can't believe it's that time ALREADY! I have been dreading this day for several years...Greyson's first day of kindergarten! He is going to a christian school not far from our house and he started this past Wednesday, August 13th. We enrolled him in half day kindergarten because we didn't want to overwhelm him too much...a full day right off the bat would have been too much for him, I feared. We did home school for pre school last year so this is his first time ever in school! On Tuesday night we went to an orientation in which Greyson went to his classroom, met his teacher and his classmates while the parents went into the church sanctuary and listened to the principal give a talk. As soon as we dropped Greyson off in his classroom at his desk I had to leave immediately because I couldn't stop the tears from rolling down my face. I cried all the way to the sanctuary, just about all through the principals talk and all the way back to the classroom to pick him up. I stopped for awhile then the tears started back up again as I went to bed that night...yeah, it was definitely a tough one for me!! I just can't believe that he is starting school already. It doesn't seem possible!!
I have really been trying to build school up to Greyson. I have been telling him how great it's going to be and how much he is going to love it. He was so excited for school to start. It hasn't been difficult for him in the least!
The morning he started school, he woke up bright eyed and busy tailed - all ready for the day to start. He was SO excited!! He has to wear a uniform to this school so dressing him in the morning is pretty simple. That's a good thing because Greyson can be somewhat particular about what he wears. He understands though that he HAS to wear uniforms. He got up, ate his breakfast, and brushed his teeth and washed his face. Then he got dressed and posed for LOTS of pictures. Finally, it was time to go to school. Steve stayed at home with the other two kids while Greyson and I ventured off to school.
As we walked into his classroom there were several crying moms and many parents taking pictures. Of course I brought my camera too and took MANY pictures myself. The time came of course when I had to say goodbye to him and leave him for the school day. As I left the classroom, I stood outside of it and took even more pictures. I wanted to remember that day forever. I wanted Greyson to remember that day forever.
Well, he is three days into the school year and loving it tremendously! His teacher is very nice and seems to really have a heart for the children in her class. She has been teaching kindergarten at the school for over 20 years.
I am doing much better now. I am excited for Greyson and know that school is going to be a wonderful experience for him. He has such a desire to learn. His mind is like a little sponge that just wants to continually soak up all the knowledge it can.
I hope when Cael and Brinsley start kindergarten that it will be a lot easier!
Here are some first day pictures...
His favorite Speedracer backpack (for some reason I couldn't rotate this picture)
having a 'heart to heart' with daddy before heading out
On our way out...just outside our front door (excuse my hair & non make up face LOL)
Getting ready to complete his first homework assignment...an a-b-c dot to dot
A hallway shot of Greyson's classroom
Final shot of the day...Greyson saw me and smiled big for the camera! :)
This is actually his second day
Greyson & daddy before leaving for school on his 2nd day (again, couldn't rotate)

Your boys are getting so big! It is hard to believe that Greyson is in Kindergarten already! I remember when he turned 4!
And Cael! My goodness. He is just changing. I wish that he would remember me, but I'm sure that he won't.
Brinsley is just a doll! She is so pretty and it is obvious that she has stolen the hearts of all the men in your family.
I miss you guys! But, we should be back in Tville for Christmas!
Give your little ones hugs for me & tell Steve hi, ok?
